The family friendly lodge

Our award-winning, self-contained cottage at Claremont Country Estate offers privacy and flexibility and is ideal for families with up to three younger children. It is also available for two couples or three adults travelling together.

Near Christchurch in Canterbury New Zealand, Ram Paddock Cottage is effectively a spacious, private three-bedroom suite. It is located separately within the lodge grounds about one hundred metres from the main building and has expansive lawns where children can play freely and safely. Cottage guests have access to the lodge facilities and access to walks on the 2,400 acre Estate and Private Nature Reserve. Guests also participate in the Land Rover Safari adventure tour.

The cottage is furnished in a country cottage style and is fully air-conditioned or centrally heated with reverse cycle cooling/heating available in the living, dining, kitchen and all bedrooms. The accommodation includes a triple-aspect open-plan living room, dining and kitchen with lovely views over farmland to the mountains beyond.

There is a master bedroom with a queen bed, dressing room and en-suite with shower. The other two bedrooms, one twin and one single, share a separate bathroom with a bath and shower. The cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and there is a separate laundry with washer and drier.

The tariff is either our “inclusive rate” with both dinner and breakfast taken at the lodge or B&B/self-catering. With the B&B rate a continental breakfast provided at the cottage for flexibility and convenience for those travelling with young children. There are several restaurants within 10-15 minutes drive and, by prior arrangement, separate family dining can be accommodated at the lodge.

For those parents who would like to join other lodge guest for drinks and lodge dining we can usually arrange a baby sitter or child minder provided we have adequate advance notice. The cost for this service is paid direct to the provider.
