Claremont Country Estate luxury lodge is set on a working
high country sheep and deer station that has its own private
nature reserve. The Estate and its enchanted valley are
surrounded by rivers and stunning mountain scenery. On-site

This is an exciting morning's journey of discovery. This

Fishing and hunting
Our experienced resident local guide will take you onto
private forestry land adjoining the Claremont estate and
guide you to private lakes where you can fish for trout
or salmon. A variety of hunting activities can also be arranged.

Horse riding
By prior arrangement, horses will be delivered to Claremont
and a guide will accompany you for a half day or a full
day’s horse riding, taking you on a majestic ride
over the estate with its stunning scenery and enchanted
river valley.

Classic car hire
if you'd like to experience the thrill of driving one of
the world’s truly great cars, Christchurch Classic
Cars has a range of cars to choose from. You can take off
from Claremont for the day and enjoy the South Island’s
open roads and some of the most breathtaking scenery in
the world. Whether you prefer a Porsche, Jaguar or Bentley,

A river swim and picnic
Enjoy our secluded natural rock swimming pool at the “white
gorge” the “shady willows” pool or the
waterfall on Boby´s stream. There are a number of
other swimming holes or delightful picnic spots where you
can while your time away.
Bird watching
To be found at Claremont are Australasian Harriers, Falcons,
Paradise duck, Mallards, Bell birds, Fantails, Pheasant,
Californian quail, Plovers, Pied Stilts, Magpies, Starlings,
Swallows, Pigeon, Wild Turkey and many other bird species.
Walks and hikes
Take a map and, at your own pace, follow one of the many
different walks. We have gentle hour long walks or more
strenuous hikes that take more than half a day. The choice
is yours.
Mountain bikes
Instead of walking try taking one of our complimentary mountain
bikes.
