A wide range of fishing options

Canterbury in New Zealand has a fantastic range of fishing options. Your hosts at Claremont luxury lodge accommodation will be glad to help organise fishing for you but advanced booking is essential.

Fishing trips are generally either a full day or a half day. Our experienced fishing guides will develop tailor-made fly fishing trips to suit your skills and experience. We can also arrange sea fishing if this is your preference.

Your guide will make a judgement, on the day, as to the best location. This is based on his local knowledge, the river conditions and the weather forecast. You will be collected from Claremont, provided with all gear and licences (except waders) and taken to where the fishing is likely to be best.

The usual New Zealand trout fishing season commences October 1st and ends April 30th. Whilst there is a winter season between these times weather conditions can be unpredictable.
