Claremont on horseback

Riding quality horses, accompanied by your personal guide, you can have the exclusive enjoyment of a full day or half day ride exploring our stunning 2,400 acre Estate and its private nature reserve.

Advance booking and a minimum of two persons required. Suitable only for experienced riders since these horses are not riding school ponies!

Horse trekking
We can make a booking on your behalf at one of three experienced horse trekking operators within less than an hour’s drive from Claremont. Horse trekking can be full day, half day or be even just for two hours.

Horse trekking and horse riding caters for both experienced riders and novices as well as children. Advance booking is strongly recommended but we are usually able to arrange a ride if we have more than 24 hours notice.

Polo training with Roddy Wood
Stay in luxury at Claremont and enjoy personal tuition and private polo training with Roddy at his nearby purpose-built polo training centre.

Roddy is well known on the international polo circuit. He has played for New Zealand and trained the Windsor polo team in England. He spends the English winter in New Zealand and during our summer months, trains polo players locally.

Note
Riders will need to have a pair of jodpur boots or at least stout shoes with a proper heel for riding in. It is advisable to bring personal riding hats or helmets. From a safety point of view, the footwear is as important as the helmets. Subject to availability and by prior arrangement we can, however, provide some popular sizes of hats and boots.
