Delightful picnic spots abound at Claremont’s Country Estate and private nature reserve.

Select the glade beneath the willow trees on the banks of our natural rock swimming pool which cuts through the dramatic cliffs of the Waipara Gorge.

Or choose from a variety of other charming spots - beside the “shady willows” river swimming hole, atop the limestone escarpment with stunning views into the river valley far below, beneath the towering “Bishops Head” rock or at Boby’s stream, listening to the gentle sound of our pretty waterfall cascading over the fossilized oyster bed.

The truly energetic might like to be rewarded by a mountain-top picnic and panoramic views after a hike to the 2,500ft summit of Mt.Storemount that is part of the high country station that we farm.

Whatever the site you choose, on our Country Estate or within our nature reserve, you are assured stunning scenery, total privacy and a delicious, freshly prepared lunch hamper or a picnic back pack.

And, of course, you can accompany your lunch with your choice of beverage including crisp NZ bubbly, boutique Waipara wines or Canterbury’s famous beers.
