What guests can enjoy at Claremont Country Estate's luxury lodge New Zealand

All guests enjoy a welcoming afternoon tea on arrival and are invited to join your hosts for a pre-dinner drink or to receive a complimentary bottle of Waipara Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy on their own. Guests also have access to our private 2,400 acre Estate and nature reserve. Our tariff includes a full breakfast for those in the lodge suites and this is served in our conservatory dining room. For those staying in the Owners Retreat Villa or in the Claremont Family Cottage breakfast provisions are provided in your accommodation so that you may enjoy breakfast at your leisure.

Staying one night
• you may like to take a short walk on the farm to take in the wonderful views from the top of our stunning limestone escarpment overlooking the Waipara river valley
• you could also take a longer walk over private farmland to the waterfall or to view the amazing gigantic “Bishops Head” natural rock sculpture.
• choose from one of the dining options
• enjoy our optional exciting morning's Land Rover “Safari” adventure before heading to your next destination. Note the "Safari" adventure is not included in the tariff but is complimentary to those staying 3-nights or more.

Staying two nights
• enjoy the optional morning's Land Rover “Safari” adventure at Claremont;
• lunch and wine tasting at one of the nearby Waipara wineries;
• participate in any one of the following free activities during the afternoon:
. .- walking and exploring the 2,400 acre estate and river valley
. .- total relaxation and/or the excellent lodge facilities including tennis, badminton, croquet or river swimming

The following activities are also available and we are happy to make bookings for you. (Note - these activities are provided by third parties and are not included in the tariff and should be pre-booked.)

• a self-drive visit to some of Waipara’s boutique wineries for some fine wine tasting or a guided half-day food and wine tour of the Waipara Valley with Mavis Airey celebrated Christchurch food and wine writer – pre-booking is essential and additional charges apply
• a visit to Hanmer Springs Alpine Village with thermal pools and spa, forest walks, mountain biking, horse riding, cafes and boutiques
• an afternoon in Christchurch City with an optional guided half-day tour of Christchurch City - the botanical gardens, Arts Centre, Canterbury museum, Antarctic Centre, Airforce Museum, punting on the Avon River, Art Galleries, Cathedral Square, cafes, restaurants and other attractions

Staying three nights
Our Land Rover safari excursion is complementary to those who stay 3-nights or more. Participate in a selected activity, as above, plus one or more of the following excursions or activities. (Note - these activities are provided by third parties and are not included in the tariff and should be pre-booked - we are happy to make bookings on your behalf).

These could include:

  • a full or half day's guided fly fishing – pre-booking is essential
  • ultimate fishing trippre-booking is essential
  • a half day's horse riding – pre-booking is essential
  • whale watching– by boat plane or helicopter – pre-booking is essential
  • swimming with dolphins or albatross encounter – pre-booking is essential
  • horse trekking – pre-booking is essential
  • golf at a selection of local courses
  • a day at Thrill Seeker's Canyon - bungy jumping, jet boating, white water rafting, off-road buggies
  • Christchurch City guided tour – pre-booking is essential
  • Waipara food and wine guided tour – pre-booking is essential
  • Maori cultural tour, or other activities

Staying four nights
Enjoy the activities as for two nights, the complementary Land Rover excursion, plus two day's excursion with selected other local activities. (Note - these activities are provided by third parties and are not included in the tariff and should be pre-booked).
