This is a really fantastic day out for up to four people.
It is an unusual combination of a sea fishing trip, river
fishing, jet boating and sight seeing. All equipment and
fishing licences are provided and a picnic lunch is included.
Even experienced fishermen enjoy this exciting trip!
This is a full day’s guided excursion and is particularly
suited to those fishermen wishing to include partners or
family in their New Zealand fishing experience - the fun
of the catch is guaranteed to everyone!
Times are flexible but we recommend an early start. Begin
with an exciting jet boat ride from the mouth of the picturesque
Waiau river. Head out to sea, over the river bar and through
the surf exploring the rugged and spectacular Kaikoura coast.
You will anchor above a small reef and here fish for blue
cod and other sea fish. Everybody catches a fish! Your fish
are filleted by the guide and will be freshly cooked for
your dinner by the Claremont chef.
Check the guide's lobsterpots for crayfish and return to
the river via a seal colony. You may see hector dolphins
and may even be fortunate enough to also spot a sperm whale.
Back in the river, depending on the season, there are opportunities
for fishing for both trout and salmon.
Part of this enthralling experience is the thrill and the
excitement of an amazing jet boat ride. You will travel
30km up a “braided” Canterbury river through
pristine uninhabited countryside stopping to fish at likely
spots along the way.
